Map_stagram

Map_stagram, “Maps that might change your mind”, is an ongoing effort expanding the ways we might see the world by leveraging the function of maps as infographics. Realisation as the most gentle form of revolution.

There has also been an IRL exhibition called Re:MapDownUnder Space in Chippendale Sydney. Down/Under was a project of Anna May Kirk

from the program:

“Memory and imagination are the same act.

The way we live together is through shared stories of how, what, why, when, who… and where.

I want to update the story, I think it is hurting us. These maps offer a more complex history, that we may build a comprehensive, nuanced and inclusive shared future narrative/memory of the future on how we can be who and where we are… together.”

There was also a takeover of maps in unusual places at Metro Arts in Brisbane during Bris-Asia Festival 2017 as part of the Yum Chat residency program.

Matt installed maps all over the building including a world map that showed where each member of Style Impressions Krew was born. This being the Bboy crew that Matt learnt to dance with when growing up in Darwin, Northern Territory.
